Todd Sanden

Todd Sanden is the Head Coach and General Manager of the Minnesota Vulcans, and he is eager to lead the team into its inaugural NA3HL season at Fogerty Arena in Blaine, Minnesota. With over 1,750 games coached at the junior level, Sanden brings a depth of experience few programs can match.

His expectation is simple. The Vulcans will be competitive in the West Division of the NA3HL, and they will strive for excellence in everything they do. The team will also be active in the community, in Blaine and the surrounding areas, because the caliber of player Sanden attracts is matched by the caliber of person.

Sanden has years of experience as a head coach and general manager across the NAHL and NA3HL. He spent 10 years leading the NA3HL North Iowa Bulls, where his teams won two USA Hockey National Championships along with numerous league and Fraser Cup titles. During that run he also led the North Iowa Bulls NAHL team. Before North Iowa, he was an assistant coach with the Coulee Region Chill and the North Iowa Outlaws of the NAHL, and he has been a head coach in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

For all the hardware, Sanden’s most treasured accomplishments are watching his players develop and advance their careers. He has mentored athletes who reached every level of collegiate and professional hockey, including the NHL and the KHL.

Seven USA Hockey National Championship titles and five USA Hockey Sportsmanship Awards speak to the standard of excellence and discipline he builds into every program. His experience also reaches the international stage, with exhibition games coached in Austria, Finland, Germany, and Switzerland.

Off the ice, Sanden is a resident of Anoka, Minnesota. He and his wife Teresa have two adult children, Nick and Emily, and two grandsons, Teddy and Tommy Sanden, sons of Nick and Holli Sanden.
